Steve Kirk Death – Dead: A great loss was made known to InsideEko. As friends and families of the deceased are mourning the passing of their loved and cherished Steve Kirk.
Having heard about this great loss, the family of this individual is passing through pains, mourning the unexpected passing of their beloved.
This departure was confirmed through social media posts made by Twitter users who pour out tributes, and condolences to the family of the deceased.
It is with great sadness that I have to inform you of the recent passing of two former members of the Chiefs family, Ian Gray (61) and Steve Kirk (75).

The Club would like to express its condolences to their wives Yvonne and Ann respectively and both their families.

Ian joined the Club in 1974 when the Club was known as the Cumbernauld Cougars and thereafter Tryst YM and eventually Cumbernauld Chiefs.

Ian played for the Club for over twenty years winning titles in both the Strathclyde and Central leagues. Ian also effectively undertook the role of Treasurer for a number of years and his laid back style often belied his competitive spirit. He was a highly effective and dependable team member and excellent ambassador for the Club.

Steve Kirk initially came to Club as a parent to support his son Gregor and was quickly recognised for his enthusiastic support and passion. I then invited him to became assistant coach in 1998.

Steve proved to be a highly effective assistant coach, providing real time game statistics, an informed sounding board and would provide a quiet piece of advice when I occasionally became a wee bit over excited.

Steve was also renowned for his famous trumpet call using only his hands which is fondly remembered by all players of this period.

I would like to take this opportunity to pass on my personal sympathies to both families and acknowledge the support Ian and Steve gave me as player and coach and also their contribution to the Club.

Anyone who knew Ian and Steve would recognise that they were both Gentlemen in every sense of the word. It has been my honour and privilege to know both men and be part of the same team and club as Ian and Steve.
We are still working on getting more details about the death, as a family statement on the death is yet to be released.
