Stephen Holgate Death – Cause of Death – Former England, Workington and Wigan forward Stephen Holgate sadly died in November 2021 at the age of 49. The news about his sad passing was announced to the public by his first club Workington.
According to release, in 1994, Holgate began his career with Workington and was in the Wigan team that beat Leeds in the inaugural Grand Final. Holgate played for England in 1995 and won the inaugural Super League Grand Final with Wigan in 1998. He also played for Hull and Halifax before retiring in 2000.
Circumstances surrounding his death has not been revealed to the public. We extend our sincerest condolences to his family at this sad time.

Don’t know all the ins and outs of how he came to lose his job at Sellafield a few years ago, but having since been through my own mental health issues there I’m fairly sure he won’t have got the help or support he needed.”
