Authorities are investigating after a man was reportedly shot near a homeless encampment in East Oakland Thursday.

This incident happened at about 3:10 p.m., officials responded to ShotSpotter alert near Alameda Avenue and Fruitvale Avenue in the South Kennedy Tract neighborhood. Arriving detectives located a man in the 3300 block of Alameda Avenue suffering from multiple injuries consistent with a gunshot at the scene. EMS administered first aid before transporting him to the hospital.

The unidentified man is expected to survive, Oakland police say. No suspect information was immediately given, although ofii==ficials say this is no threat to the public.
