Opelousas Shooting – 22-year-old Jordan Sereal has been taken into custody after police say he shot a woman on the night of Thanksgiving at the parking lot of Walmart during a child custody exchange.
Opelousas Police say the incident happened at about past 5:00 p.m. The unidentified woman sustained gunshot injuries during the incident. Another female victim later identified as the aunt of the child sustained injuries to her upper body. they were transported to a hospital for treatments. The child was unharmed in the incident.
Police Chief Martin McLendon says, Sereal fled the area with a female in the car after the shooting and was seen last heading Southbound on I-49 towards Lafayette. Officials with the Lafayette Police Department traced and apprehended him. He is awaiting extradition to Opelousas, where he would face charges.
