Sir Martin Francis Wood Death – Cause Of Death: Founding father and patron of Earth Trust and Oxford Instruments Sir Martin Francis Wood has passed away on Tuesday 23rd November 2021 at the age of 94 after a brief battle with illness.
Martin was born on 19 April in the year 1927. He attended Gresham’s School a public school in Holt, Norfolk, England, one of the top thirty International Baccalaureate schools in England, and then continued at Trinity College a constituent college of the University of Cambridge that was founded in 1546 by King Henry VIII and proceeded to study engineer at Cambridge University and Imperial College, London, a public research university in London.
Martin alongside his wife Audrey were great philanthropists who made a huge donation for the construction of the Sir Martin Wood Lecture Theatre at the Clarendon Laboratory. He was a Senior Research Officer at the Clarendon Laboratory at the University of Oxford for 13 years from 1955 through to 1969. He founded the Earth Trust in the year 1967 to promote environmental conservation through land management, education, and land science at Little Wittenham.
Martin also co-founded an environmental organization that focuses on trees and forestry established in 2006 called the Sylva Foundation. He was President of a UK-based charitable organization called Farm Africa that was established in 1985 that works with farmers. He will be missed for his talent and creativity. Sir Martin Wood’s Obituary will be announced by his family in due time.
