It is sad for the city and school community to mourn the death of an Allen Park High School senior who was killed due to a fatal crash on Wednesday 22nd of September 2021.
The senior student cousin, Faith Howard also boarded the vehicle that crashed but fortunately, she was injured. She was tended at a hospital and released on Thursday.
The school Supt. Michael Darga sent a letter to the community informing revealing Mia Howard as the victim who was fatally injured in an automobile accident.
“Mia was loved by her entire family, and beloved by Allen Park Public Schools staff and fellow students, as she attended Lindemann Elementary, Allen Park Middle School, and Allen Park High School,” Darga said in his letter. “We send a message of positive healing to Faith and will be here for her every step of the way.”
“Students may experience several of these emotions and feelings over the next couple weeks,” Darga added. “The most important thing we can do is to be supportive and encourage an open expression of feelings. The district’s crisis team, including counselors, social workers, and school psychologists have implemented a plan for responding to this tragic event. Special counseling services have been made available to students and staff at Allen Park High School and will continue to be available throughout the week and longer, as needed, at all three buildings.”
