Aaron Osthoff, Dubuque, IA, Cause of Death: Aaron Osthoff, 47-year-old, passed away tragically in the Village Of Potosi, Wisconsin shooting that took place on Friday, November 19, 2021. According to sources Aaron was said to have killed a woman identified as 37-year-old Megan Breuer at her residence in the Village Of Potosi, Wisconsin, then killed himself. The female victim, 37-year-old Megan Breuer was at her residence, when 47-year-old Aaron Osthoff, of Dubuque, IA came to her residence in the early morning hours of November 19th. Breuer and Osthoff were known to each other and the extent of their relationship is still being determined.
According to news released, the Grant County Communications Center in the early morning hours of November 19, 2021, at approximately 3:30 a.m., received a 911 call from the north main street area in the Village of Potosi. It was an open line at the time of the call, and the dispatcher could hear voices that sounded like an argument of some type was occurring. Grant County deputies were dispatched and after long search, they were able to identify where the line was called from. As Deputies were standing outside the residence, they heard a gunshot and a woman’s scream, and another gunshot followed shortly after. The deputies entered the residence and ultimately located a 37-year-old female victim with a gunshot wound and a male subject with a gunshot wound.
Osthoff was declared deceased at the scene by the Grant County Coroner, and Megan Breuer was transported by Potosi EMS to Grant Regional and later air-lifted to UW Madison and she is currently in stable condition. According to authorities, it appears Osthoff forcibly entered Megan’s residence, at the time the call was made to 911 by Breuer. Osthoff shot Breuer in the neck and head area before turning the gun on himself. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate this incident with assistance from the Wisconsin Crime Lab.
