J.C. Lucas Death – Cause of Death – J.C. Lucas (M.A. Dip. Ed. Oxon), former Headmaster of Davenies has passed away earlier this month. An article revealed that appointed in September 1968, Lucas was the School’s second headmaster, after the retirement of founding headmaster Reverend Newton. He ran the School with the help of his wife, Molly, for 24 years.
Luca served for a 24-year tenure and in those time, he increased the School roll from 141 boys to 171, oversaw an entire changeover of the staff roll (with the exception of Mrs Pink ,the Cleaner), and enabled the development of the School site to accommodate new Junior School classrooms, a pavilion, the School’s first Computer Room, and a more modern (but still outdoor) Swimming Pool. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Davenies School said in a tweet; “It is with great sadness that we announce the death of former Headmaster of Davenies, Mr J.C. Lucas (M.A. Dip. Ed. Oxon). The thoughts of the whole school community are with Mr Lucas’ wife, Molly, and family at this sad time.”
