Rosalie Trombley Cause of Death – Passed Away: LEAMINGTON, ON., – Legendary CKLW-AM800 music director Rosalie Trombley has passed away. Rosalie Trombley died on Tuesday of complications from Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 82. Rosalie, the powerful Windsor radio music director, was dubbed “the girl with the golden ear.”
Rosalie Trombley was born in 1939 in Leamington, Ontario. Rosalie was the music director of AM800 CKLW in 1968 when the station broadcast Top 40 hits. She was well-known as an industry tastemaker on both sides of the border. Rosalie was a music-industry force beginning in the late 1960s, breaking hits, playing musical kingmaker, and transforming the station into a powerful continental player.

Trombley was also the inspiration for the song of the same name by Bob Seger, which was released in the 1970s. Trombley received the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award at the 2016 Juno Awards. “For many years, Rosalie Trombley was the most powerful woman in the radio and music industries, yet she had time to tell stories, laugh and teach this young colleague. My condolences to Tim Trombley, Todd Trombley and Diane Lynn Lauzon on the loss of their much-loved mother,” Kevin Shea wrote on his Twitter page.
