Officials with the Indiana State Police are probing an officer-involved shooting that left a man hospitalized in Wabash Tuesday night, reports says.
The Wabash County Sheriff’s Department and the Wabash Police Department were serving a warrant during a narcotics investigation at a home in the 300 block of West Maple Street at about 8:30 p.m. just before the shooting. As officers were making entry into the residence, a deputy with the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department reportedly saw a 51-year-old man inside the home armed with a handgun, according to police.
Officer fired at least one shot, striking the man. He was transported to a Fort Wayne hospital in unknown condition. No officer was injured in the shooting. This story will be updated as information becomes available.
