Phil Grigsby Death – Cause Of Death: Former Executive Director of Schenectady Community Ministries and untiring Schenectady activist Reverend Phil Grigsby from Schenectady, New York has passed away on Tuesday 23rd November 2021 at the age of 73 from ALS(Lou Gehrig’s) disease surrounded by family and loved ones.
Phil attended Hamburg High School in the year 1965 and proceeded to Studied Economics at Oberlin College in the year 1969 and continued his study at Yale Divinity School in the year 1976. He was a former Volunteer at Peace Corps from June 1969 – June 1971 in Sembehun, Eastern, Sierra Leone, and former Associate Minister/Norwalk Community Service Fund at First Congregational Church on the Green 1972 – 1976 in Norwalk, Connecticut.
Phil directed Schenectady Community Ministries for 33 years building a better Schenectady giving voice to those who have been silent for years. He was a former Executive director at Christian Community Action from 1976 – 1981 in New Haven, Connecticut, and former Associate Regional Director at Church World Service 1982 – 1986 Charlotte in North Carolina.
He was a great activist who gave hope to those that lost hope. He was a loving and caring man with a heart of gold. A former Interim Pastor at Bethel (Bear Creek) United Church of Christ for 2 years from 1982 – 1984 in Pleasant, North Carolina, he served as former Executive Director of Schenectady Community Ministries from July 1986 ad retired in January 2020.
