John Sloggie Death – Dead: A great loss was made known to InsideEko. As friends and families of the deceased are mourning the passing of their loved and cherished John Sloggie.
Having heard about this great loss, the family of this individual is passing through pains, mourning the unexpected passing of their beloved.
This departure was confirmed through social media posts made by Twitter users who pour out tributes, and condolences to the family of the deceased.
We have just learned that shinty great, John Sloggie, passed away today. We send our sincere condolences to Mabel and the family at this sad time.
John was loved by many and respected throughout the shinty community and beyond and already many stories are emerging of great times spent in his company.
John was a “character” and, along with Mabel, would grace the touchline of many a game offering advice to fellow supporters, coaches and indeed to the referee on the day.
The shinty world will be a poorer place without his presence for sure.
It is difficult to believe that we will never see John Sloggie at Braeview again.He was a brilliant character and he will be sorely missed.But his memory will endure and he leaves behind a wonderful legacy.The deepest sympathy of everyone at Beauly Shinty Club – players ,supporters and committee members – goes to Mabel and the extended Sloggie family.
Saddened to hear of the death of John Sloggie, on 30th August, aged 81. One of the game’s great characters, John contributed massively to #shinty, both as a referee, and – along with wife Mabel – as a prolific maker of camans.

As somebody who got to know John Sloggie over the last few years, I’m really sorry to hear of his sad passing. He had a limitless supply of stories, about everything from shinty to his early days, shared with a cheeky smile. Thinking of his family and all who knew him.
