Very sad to learn that Ian Mitchell, the youngest member of the Bay City Rollers, died yesterday of cancer at age 62. Roller fans around the world are heartbroken. Condolences to his wife and loved ones.

This is Ian Mitchell, for those of you who don’t remember 1970’s pop music. He was kind, humorous, and generous. In 2007, he and his amazing wife Wendy walked into my office asking me for help, and we soon became friends. I’ll miss him. Watch over us, bud.

RIP Ian Mitchell, 62, of the Bay City Rollers @thebcrofficial, as announced by his wife Wendy on Facebook. Ian was the only non-Scottish member who at age 17 joined the Rollers for their Dedication album in 1976.

I just heard the news that Ian Mitchell passed away a few hours ago after a short battle with an illness. I had the honor to photograph a couple concerts for him and called him and his wife dear friends. RIP Ian, My dedication is playing just for you.

Sad news from the Bay City Rollers world – Ian Mitchell died today. He was 62. Certainly one of the highlights of my career was singing for the Rollers. We made some great memories in the relatively short time I was in the band. My deepest condolences to Wendy, and Ian’s legion of fans around the world.
Having heard about this great loss, the family of this individual is passing through pains, mourning the unexpected passing of their beloved.
This departure was confirmed through social media posts made by Twitter users who pour out tributes, and condolences to the family of the deceased.
We are still working on getting more details about the death, as a family statement on the death is yet to be released.
