Jack Brainard, Death, NRHA Hall of Famer: Jack Brainard, 100-year-old, a legend and a member of the National Reining Horse Association Hall of Fame, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. The NRHA Hall of Famer died just a few months after celebrating his 100th birthday.
He was born on August 12, 1921, he was inducted to NRHA’s Hall of Fame in 2009, but his connection to NRHA has spanned the Association’s life. He served as a director its first year, and proudly sported member number 19, and attended the NRHA Foundation meeting. He contributed a lot to the industry. He authored three training books and held judge’s cards for NHRA, the National Cutting Horse Association, the American Quarter Horse Association, and various other breed associations. He passed peacefully with his wife Kathy at his side.
According to Jack Brainard Advanced Horsemanship, a Facebook page of Jack Brainard described him as a “Trainer, Breeder, Judge, Leader, Teacher, Author, Mentor, and Friend are all accurate labels of Jack Brainard of Tioga, Texas, long known for his contributions to the equine industry and his lifelong commitment to horses and the people who enjoy them. Jack Brainard has bred and trained horses for over 53 years and judged by a variety of national horse associations for over 40 years. These Associations include Paint Horse, Quarter Horse, Appaloosa, Palomino, NCHA Cutting, and NRHA reining shows, both in the U. S. and abroad. In 1966 Jack Brainard helped organize the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) and served as one of its original directors.
