Jack Templeman Death – Cause of Death – Jack Templeman a long-time curator of the Winnipeg Police Museum, sadly and unexpectedly passed away. In 1955, Templeman began his Policing career when he commenced employment with the Canadian Pacific Railroad (CPR) Police. He joined the St. Boniface Police Force and worked out of the basement offices of the Town Hall building at 219 Provencher Blvd in 1958. After serving diligently, he was later promoted to Patrol Sergeant.
Reports revealed that Jack became a member of the Winnipeg Police Department in 1974. He was part of the brilliant minds who formed the Winnipeg Police Museum and Historical Society. Jack first created a small museum in the training academy inside Van Belleghen School at 10 Vermillion Rd. and when the training academy moved to Allard School at 130 Allard Avenue, he made room for a much larger museum in the basement. He later became an amazing curator.
In January 1994, After 38 years of service Jack retired in January 1994 but remained as curator and historian of the Museum. A Facebook post made by Winnipeg Police-Service Museum wrote that Jack authored a history book In 1999. The book was about the Winnipeg Police Service title From Force to Service in celebration of the Service’s 125th anniversary. In 2017, Jack retired as the curator and remained the Museum’s Historian.
