David Shields Cause of Death – Passed Away: Canadian Pro Rodeo Legend David Shields Sr., a lifelong Cereal, Alberta resident, died suddenly and unexpectedly. At the time of publication, the circumstances surrounding Dave Shields’ death were unknown. He was 66 years old at the time.

David Shields was born in Cereal, Alberta, on June 18, 1955. In 1979, he became a member of the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association – CPRA. David worked as a bucking horse test pilot for the Calgary Stampede Ranch, he won the Wild Horse Racing Championship five times. He was a chute boss for the Stampede. In 1987, he was named CPRA Douglas Lake Ranch Cowboy of the Year.

He was inducted as a Rodeo Legend into the Canadian Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2009. He was a rodeo legend for many reasons, the most important of which was his love and passion for the sport, which was the driving force behind his efforts to get young people involved.

“Sad news to share. Rodeo Legend David Shields Sr. Has passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family,” Tenn Texas Radio wrote on Facebook.

The family of David Shields will release an obituary and funeral arrangements in due course.
