Richard J. Finnerty passed away Scituate – Plymouth County – Ma – Richard J. Finnerty, of Scituate, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, passed away on November 15, 2021. He was a brother to Kerry Hayes, Kathleen May, and Nancy Hennessy, and a father to three children Nicole Finnerty, Matthew Finnerty, Grace Finnerty, he died suddenly and unexpectedly leaving behind his beloved and friends in grief and shock.

He was born in Boston on January 19, 1966, He was the son of Nancy J. Finnerty and the late Richard F. Finnerty of Scituate.  he was raised in Scituate, attended local schools, and graduated from Scituate High School. He attended Champlain College in Vermont before joining the Sheet Metal Workers Local 17 in Boston. He loved being a “tin knocker” and was known as the Gentle Giant by his coworkers, retiring only recently after a career of 30 years. He was very fond of the ocean and enjoyed walking the dog along the beach at the Scituate lighthouse. His greatest pride and joy, however, was his family, particularly his three children, and he took great pleasure in attending his children’s sporting events. He is deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his children Nicole Finnerty, Matthew Finnerty, Grace Finnerty, and his former wife, Deborah Finnerty of Scituate.

Richard J. Finnerty Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, November 19, 2021, from 4-8 PM at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, MA. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 10:00 am at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate, MA.
