Alice Read Death – Cause of Death : 25-year-old Alice Read, of San Diego has been identified by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department as the woman that lost her life in a suspected DUI car accident that happened on Santa Ana (5) Freeway around 2:10 a.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2021 in Irvine, California.
According to officials, the accident happened on southbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway, north of Yale Avenue when Shalaya A. Sierra, of San Diego who was driving a 2016 Honda Civic stooped the car on the right shoulder and a man who was an occupant of the car alongside Read alighted from the car. The man was then struck by a white Honda which led to 33-year-old Jorge ErastoCruz of Lake Forest who was also driving in the same to swerve to the right side of the roadway after as he was attempting to dodge the man.
His car later rear-ended the 2016 Honda leaving Read who was the middle rear seat passenger with serious injuries. She was transported in serious condition to the hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries, while the man that had earlier alighted from the 2016 Honda was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the crash, ErastoCruz was apprehended on suspicion of driving under influence and was booked at the Orange County Jail and was held on a $1 million bail as of November 13.
Investigation into the cause of the crash is still ongoing.
